Matthew Howe is a multi-talented professional with over 15 years of experience in photography, filmmaking, directing, and writing. His journey began in the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a Combat Photographer for five years, documenting various aspects of the military and winning the Military Photographer of the Year awards in the pictorial category. After his service, he continued his passion for capturing the perfect shot, working freelance and taking on behind-the-scenes photography on film sets and shooting surfers at surf parks and in the ocean.
A graduate of the University of Texas in Austin, Matthew received his Bachelor's of Science in Radio/Television/Film. He has traveled extensively, documenting anything that he finds interesting, always going the extra mile to get the perfect shot.
Throughout his career, Matthew has proven to be a quick learner with exemplary critical thinking and problem-solving skills, producing high-quality deliverables on time and under budget. He is highly organized and focused on fostering creativity, accountability, and sustainability to drive successful project execution.
Matthew's extensive experience includes production management, photography/videography, camera operation, data management, set and studio experience, creative direction, client management, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, After Effects, Lightroom), Final Cut Pro, and he is a team player.
He has received several awards for his work, including the 2015 Military Photographer of the Year Award Winner (Pictorial Category) for his work "Dusky Night," the Best Texas Film at the Texas Short Film Festival in 2023 for "Lone Star Surf," and Best Documentary at the Oregon Short Film Festival in 2023 for "Lone Star Surf," among others.
Matthew has worked with various clients, including Ford Motor Company's Bronco Off-Roadeo, Patron, and HBO Max, providing a full range of services, including event videos, Behind the Scenes photos on film sets, and water sports documentation. He has executed the full production process by creating shot lists, booking talent, sourcing/selecting optimal locations, conducting shoots, and making final edits to ensure high-quality deliverables. He is a licensed part 107 drone pilot. Matthew's dedication to his craft and his ability to create engaging productions and images, no matter the creative challenges he faces, make him an invaluable asset to any team.
